Hi, I’ve been doing the elimination diet for about 3 weeks. (Even though I forgot about the vinegar and had it; hope that did not mess everything up.) Anyway, was not feeling well over the course of a few days so I took my blood sugar and it was running pretty high, e.g. 227 after a meal. I felt so bad I broke the diet and ate an egg sandwich and some nuts and seeds and my blood sugar went down to normal. My A1C is normal so it had to be the diet. Could it be the sudden lack of sugar that caused that? And what foods can I leave in to prevent that from happening again? Thanks

    Hi there,
It depends what you were eating prior to the meal. However, instead of foods causing this, it very possibly could have been adrenals that could have negatively affected your blood sugar. With every meal, I would be sure that you are having carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Often with the diet, people tend to do too much fruit or starchy vegetables and not enough fats which can lead to blood sugar imbalances, but the stress and adrenal response can also be a contributor to this.

By the way Dana, did I mess the diet up by having the red wine vinegar? I probably had it a couple of times a week. thanks

Good news is that there is really know “messing up” of the diet. You do want to avoid red wine vinegar but it is not something I would say would completely mess up your results.
