    Hello!
I’m hoping to find some advise on supplements and diets for certain issues and if I can do this at the same time.

So I’ve finished reading Amy Myers Thyroid Connection. I’m preparing to start my 28 day plan but I’m not exactly clear on how to go about it. After taking some of the questioners in the book it seams that I might be dealing with some leaky gut, Candida, parasites, and adrenal dysfunction. Of course I wont forget about my Graves as well 🙂

So my question is should I start taking the supplementation for all those issues as I start the 28 day plan? Or should I start with one issue, if so which one? If I’m dealing with all these issues can I still follow the meal plan in the book? The book makes it seem like that’s fine, but once I started reading some topics on this forum I wasn’t so sure.

Any clarification would be much appreciated!

    Hi Leila,
I would recommend starting with autoimmune, leaky gut, and adrenal supplements. You can still use the meal plan in the book but if you have a concern about candida, it may be helpful to not go too overboard on carbs and starches during the 28 days. The main focus should be on overall autoimmunity and reducing inflammation. Healing the gut and balancing out dysbiosis is important as well, but sometimes that can be more stressful than necessary. Big thing to remember is take this one step and one day at a time because if the diet becomes stressful for you it can cause more harm than good. If you would like a targeted approach to the diet tailored to your specific health concerns and conditions or even recommendations for testing to see if candida or parasites are an issue for you, I definitely would recommend Wellness Coaching with me so we can tailor the diet you you!

    Thanks Dana,
I am definitely considering Wellness Coaching. I was hoping though to bring test results to the coaching so the session, I am trying to be conscious of my budget and would like the meeting to be as productive as possible. What do you like new clients to bring to wellness coaching?

    Hi Leila,
Great question! Any recent labs that you have that you want to go over are great to fax in advance. Our office will also have you fill out a 3 day food diary and symptom tracker. Otherwise, nothing else in advance. If you think you have candida or parasites, a Comprehensive Stool Analysis is very beneficial to have in advance so we can immediately treat if needed. I recommend the one offered from MyLabsForLife.com.

    Good morning,

I too was a bit concerned with How to start. I tested + for SIBO & Parasites on top of having R.A. and U.C. So I know I need to heal a leaky gut, kill these bacteria and yeast as well as heal my gut. My question is this:

Should I start the 30 Myers Way Protocol and take the supplements for Gut Health, Sibo/ Parasites & My Probiotics, Vit. D, Omegas for those 30 days?

THEN at the end of the 30 days start the Detoxing supplements: Glutathione & NAC? I guess I’m not sure when would be a good time to start the detox supplements because I know I read that your gut should be healthy and leaky gut healed before trying to detox it… Correct?

    Thanking in Advance 🙂
    Jen

      Hi Jen,

In reality, you could do all of it at the same time. However, it can be a lot! So I think your plan of treating than detoxing may be a more balanced and not overwhelming approach.

    Thank you Dana,
I will try and get tested before booking an appointment.
Is there any testing for leaky gut or adrenal dysfunction that you would recommend?

    Hi Leila,
There are tests for leaky gut but most often we can automatically assume this is probably an issue if you have an autoimmune condition or are suffering from inflammation. As far as adrenal dysfunction, you can look into testing salivary cortisol levels as an option.
