As strange as the events surrounding the coronavirus have been, I’ve been really heartened and impressed when I think about how everyone is working together to beat this! We’re doing our part here, too. Our close-knit staff has begun working remotely. While we miss seeing each other at the office every day, we know that “social distancing” is the right step to take now. I hope you’re all doing your part and following the policies that have been set up in your community, too.
In fact, because Elle was ill (nothing serious, thank goodness!) our family has already been social distancing for the past two weeks. Working from home full time has been an adjustment! I have to admit there are moments when I’ve gone a little bonkers, however, I know it’s best for everyone’s health and it’s not forever. Setting up a routine and letting go of some of the details (vacuuming has definitely taken a back seat!) has helped a lot. Still, some of these days have felt pretty long. Check out my Instagram stories to see what I mean.
However, even though my staff and I are not together in our office, we’re still hard at work, bringing you informative and helpful articles, the most effective programs, and of course, the finest physician-formulated supplements. Our fulfillment center is up and running and, as always, anything you order will be delivered right to your door. This is especially important now, as most of us are minimizing contact with others and staying away from stores.
Stock Your Pantry
I know the last place you’ll want to go right now is the grocery store. Not only are people “panic buying” in some areas, it’s also impossible to control who you may come into contact with. Fortunately, we have several products that are perfect in this situation and I’ve collected them in a special Pantry Staples shop in my store. Check out my Instagram to see details of what’s in my pantry.
None of them require refrigeration, they all have a long shelf life, they’re packed with nutrients, and all you need to do with most of them is just mix them with some water. For others, you don’t even have to do that. Nothing could be simpler!
My Bone Broth Collagen is great to have on hand because it makes a tasty, gut-supporting drink that dissolves instantly in hot water and tastes just like chicken soup! That’s because it’s made from certified organic, pasture-raised chicken. It’s a warm, comforting way to ensure your gut — the home of 80% of your immune system — is in top shape.
Another great way to ensure you’re getting all the collagen you need for a healthy gut lining is by adding my Collagen powder to your morning routine. Because it’s completely flavorless, it’s easy to mix in any hot or cold beverage — including just plain water. Collagen is full of amino acids and peptides that help maintain and promote optimal gut lining health. Supporting your gut lining is absolutely paramount for those concerned with autoimmune diseases, healthy thyroid function, and a balanced and healthy inflammation response.
Protein bars are always ideal to have in your pantry. My Chewy Chocolate Protein Bars, with 12 grams of protein and 11 grams of fiber, are a mini-meal on their own. My Coconut Joy Fiber Bars and my Cookie Dough Collagen Bars taste great and make an ideal Paleo dessert. They’re also full of healthy fiber that keeps you feeling full and supports optimal digestion.
Both are packed with medium chain triglycerides (MCT’s) that help boost metabolism and fat burning, as well as support healthy energy production and gut health. All three of my bars are truly delicious — like a cookie without the guilt!
Protein powders are my all-occasion item that I always have in my kitchen. My Paleo Protein powders just need water and pack an incredible 21-26 grams of protein depending on the flavor you like best. Simply mix them with water for a decadent treat that tastes amazing. Of course, you can also make a delicious smoothie with fresh or frozen fruit, or coconut milk if you have a can in your pantry. With four rich, satisfying flavors — plus an unflavored variety — there’s one for every taste.
You’ll also want to ensure you’re getting enough greens in your diet while you’re skipping those trips to the salad bar. You may not be able to get to the grocery store, or you may have trouble getting fresh produce. Fortunately, my Organic Greens powder makes it incredibly easy to incorporate greens in your diet. With just one scoop in a glass of water, you get all the nutritional benefits of a glass of fresh, organic green juice. It’s 100% USDA certified organic and rich in the superfoods and phytonutrients that are often missing in our modern diets at the best of times.
Not only does it contain spirulina and chlorella, which are among the richest nutrient sources on the planet, it also includes ashwagandha to promote ideal immune function and encourage stress relief. Finally, I infused it with turmeric and ginger so it tastes great and supports inflammation balance.
Support Your Immune System
Of course, it’s more important than ever to ensure you’re getting all the nutrients you need for optimal health and avoiding any toxic or inflammatory foods that may impact your gut. I generally recommend everyone take a multivitamin, and that’s even more critical right now. The Myers Way® multivitamin has optimal levels of Vitamin A, C, and D — all of which help to support the immune system
If you’re stuck indoors, consider boosting your Vitamin D3/K2 with my liquid supplement. Vitamin D works hand in hand with your body to modulate immune activity. Many immune cells have receptors for Vitamin D including macrophages, dendritic cells, monocytes, as well as T-lymphocytes and B-lymphocytes. This means that Vitamin D plays a big role in modulating both aspects of your immune response — the innate one that reacts to a cut, for example, and the adaptive one that “learns” and recognizes different viruses, for example.
When you’re under constant stress, your body’s supply of the master detoxifier, glutathione, can be rapidly depleted. Glutathione is the body’s ultimate free radical scavenger. It’s critical for coordinating the activity of antioxidants in your cells. The power of vitamin C, vitamin E, and even the free radical fighters CoQ10 and ubiquinol are all coordinated by appropriate glutathione levels.
My acetylated Glutathione comes in the most bioavailable form available on the market. The acetylation process and microcluster molecular structure ensure that it won’t break down before your body has a chance to absorb it and that it is in the right form to actually be absorbed.
And for supporting your immune system overall, I recommend my ImmunIG™. It offers powerful colostral whey peptides to support a healthy immune system and optimally functioning gut barrier.
ImmunIG™ is a concentrated source of immunoglobulins, a special protein created by your immune system. Your white blood cells create these glycoproteins to bind to all kinds of antigens. Viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites, even inflammatory proteins from the foods we eat may all be bound by immunoglobulins in order to be destroyed or carried out of the body through the bowel. ImmunIG™ is a fantastic way to support your immune health.
You can find all of these in my special Immune Support shop in my store. You can even arrange for overnight delivery. Plus, now is a good time to sign up for Subscribe and Save on The Myers Way® products you use most often so you’ll always have what you need on hand.
Be Well, Stay Well!
Once again, I urge you to stay home if you have any symptoms such as a cough or a fever. See this article for what to do if you think you have the coronavirus.
Remember to take steps to keep yourself healthy and to avoid spreading the virus. Wash your hands in soap and water for 20 seconds at intervals throughout the day. Try to remember not to touch your face. Practice social distancing by staying six feet away from other people, skipping handshakes, and avoid groups of 10 or more people. Respect any requests from public health officials in your area to stay at home. We’ll get through this together if we all do our part!
Support your immune system by continuing your healthy habits of eating fresh, organic foods whenever possible, managing your stress, and getting enough sleep. If you’re not already taking a multivitamin, now is the time to start. It’s one of the simplest ways to ensure you’re getting the vitamins you need for optimal health. Check out other ways to boost your immune system in the special Immune Support shop in my store. And stock up on my shelf-stable Paleo Protein powders and Organic Greens that mix easily with just water, so that you can avoid the grocery store yet still get the nutrients your body craves. You can find these and more in my Pantry Staples shop in my store.
