What are GMO Foods?

GMO foods are Genetically Modified Organisms and they are ubiquitous in our food supply.

It is estimated that 80% of the corn and soy sold in the USA is GMO.

The top GMO foods are:

Corn

Soy

Cotton or Cotton seed

Canola

Sugar beets

Papayas

Conventional chicken and beef are fed GMO feed of corn and soy so if you eat meat and it’s not labled “certified organic” then you are eating GMOs by default.

Currently GMO foods do not need to be labeled in the USA.

How can you avoid GMO foods?

Avoid ingredients with the above foods.

Eat only ‘certified organic’ foods.

Eat only grass fed beef and certified organic chicken, eggs, milk and cheese.

Donate to organizations that support Prop-37 which aims to label GMO foods.
