Dr. Amy Myers in the Kitchen at the South Austin Headquarters of AMMD with new supplement packaging.

Why I Made This

“When I custom formulated my Vanilla Bean Paleo Protein, I spent months at the drawing board perfecting it to ensure that it had the absolute perfect balance of vanilla bean, and just the right amount of natural sweetness. This delicious and decadent flavor is inspired by summer afternoons and evenings enjoying vanilla ice cream with my dad when I was just a little girl.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Vanilla Bean Paleo Protein made of?

Paleo Protein is made from hydrolyzed bovine collagen that comes from happy, pasture-raised cows that graze on fresh green fields in the sunshine. These animals are raised with love and care and are never given unnecessary drugs such as antibiotics, arsenic-based growth promoters, or hormones. They are grass-fed and never fed GMOs, such as genetically modified corn and soy meal.

What time of day should I take Vanilla Bean Paleo Protein?

Paleo Protein is perfect any time of the day. While Dr. Myers likes it in her morning smoothies, you can enjoy it at all times of the day. Whether you’re mixing it into your morning coffee or into shakes for dessert for a flavorful protein boost, you’ll find that it’s great around the clock.

Is Vanilla Paleo Protein safe for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children?

While many moms and dads tell me they give Paleo Protein to their kids, I always recommend speaking with your child’s pediatrician or nutritionist if you have concerns about any of the ingredients or adjusting the dosing for them. And, as always, I recommend reaching out to your physician, midwife, or other qualified healthcare practitioner if you have any concerns before using it while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Is Vanilla Bean Paleo Protein damaged by heat?

All proteins are damaged by high heat to some extent. Proteins are long chains of amino acids bound together. High heat can potentially fold and warp the amino acid chains into new shapes and structures called amines that may be unusable by the body, or even harmful. This is why you should avoid charring or overcooking meat. The proteins and peptides in my Paleo Protein are quite stable at moderately high temps, so adding it to a hot cup of tea or coffee, or baking it at low temps (below 300F) will not denature it too much.

Can I take Vanilla Paleo Protein if I’m allergic to tree nuts?

Paleo Protein contains MCT oil derived from coconuts. Scientifically speaking, coconuts are not tree nuts—they are in fact fruits classified as a “drupe.” Other drupes include palm fruit, peaches, berries, plums, and apricots. However, because the FDA has lumped coconuts in a group with other tree nuts for labeling purposes, we are required to list them as a potential allergen. In fact, true coconut allergy is actually extremely rare with only a few cases reported in the medical literature. If you have a diagnosed tree nut allergy, please speak with your healthcare provider before consuming any products containing coconut.

    Must try

Anyone with digestive issues should definitely try these paleo protein powders! I had a challenging bout of SIBO that required treatment over several years with multiple doctors. To help rebalance my system and counteract the damage done by a high-sugar diet and takeout food, I like to replace a meal or two each day for at least a week at a time. Oftentimes, I rely on these products more frequently due to my busy schedule. While it’s an expensive product, I find it worth it for the health benefits, especially when compared to pre-mixed brands. Love that there are no unnecessary vitamins added, as that can make a product inconvenient and hard to digest.

    They changed some ingredients.

I used to drink this all the time and it was great! But now it's horrible! I called and they said they changed some ingredients. Will not be buying this anymore. Disappointed.

    Bad reaction

I love the flavor--but for some reason--there must be something in it--I have a horrible reaction!! High inflammation as soon as I drink it!!! So upsetting - maybe it's the new formula ?? not sure

    Not that great

I have been a fan of the chocolate flavor for years. I decided to try the vanilla. It is so sweet I can't tolerate it and I love sweets. I tried using only half a scoop and I still couldn't drink it. I will go back to chocolate, but now I'm stuck with a bag of vanilla that I cannot drink. Unless you like a super sweet flavor, I would not recommend this flavor.
