You will see the warning on the label of some Amy Myers MD® supplements and the website for products sold in the state of California.

This is a very complicated subject and lead contamination in our environment is prevalent through the soil, water or air which can all transfer tiny trace amounts of lead to the growing plants. The FDA’s stance is that it’s not possible to remove or completely prevent lead from entering the food supply. The FDA, therefore, seeks to limit consumer exposure to lead in foods to the greatest extent feasible.

The chemicals in supplements that appear on the Proposition 65 list are not intentionally added. In most cases, they are picked up from the soil the plants are cultivated in. For more information please see https://www.p65warnings.ca.gov/chemicals/lead-and-lead-compounds
This warning is required to comply with California Proposition 65 which requires a warning for any chemical occurring in a product that is included on the California Proposition 65 list.
Proposition 65 (also known as Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) is a California law that requires a “clear and reasonable warning” to consumers for products that contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
