Healthy peppermint shake

I love a good milkshake! Peppermint mocha is one of my favorite milkshake flavors, especially for the holidays. I’ve come up with the best thick, creamy milkshake that’s dairy-free, refined-sugar-free, rich in protein, and easy to make.

This peppermint shake has just 4 ingredients: coconut yogurt, coconut milk, my Peppermint Mocha Paleo Protein powder, and ice. It couldn’t get any simpler!

Coconut yogurt is a great dairy-free yogurt alternative made from coconut milk that is loaded with probiotics, which are great for your gut health. You can make homemade coconut yogurt, and it’s also sold in stores. Look for unsweetened coconut yogurt that has live and active cultures as one of the ingredients. Also look for one that is thickened with an AIP-friendly starch, such as arrowroot starch or tapioca starch.

Yogurt is an important part of this milkshake because it helps make a thick, creamy milkshake when blended with ice. I sometimes add a splash of coconut milk too, but is optional if you want an extra thick shake.

Peppermint mocha

This milkshake gets its rich chocolatey mint flavor from my Peppermint Mocha Paleo Protein powder. The protein powder is made with non-GMO beef protein sourced from grass-fed, pasture-raised beef, cocoa powder, natural peppermint flavor. The stevia leaf extract for just the right amount of sweetness without adding any refined sugar. It has no added hormones or antibiotics, and it’s rich in collagen-specific amino acids. These support muscle growth and repair, as well as gut barrier function.

If you cannot tolerate cocoa, or want to make this peppermint shake without the protein powder, you can use carob powder, peppermint extract, stevia, and collagen instead of the protein powder. This combination of ingredients will add a delicious mint chocolatey flavor, sweetness, and healthy amino acids to this shake.
