Q – my FM dr. ordered Genova SIBO (hydrogen breath test CPT 91065) & Great Plains Comp. Stool Analysis w/ Parasitology X2 test. Will these tests tell me if I have yeast, leaky gut, infections too? My thyroid results are very close to Gerald’s on pg, 115 of The Thyroid Connection. TSH 3.98 mIU/L, T4 free 1.0 ng/dL, T3 Free 3.0 pg/mL, T3 Reverse 7 ng/dL. I aso suffer from fibro/CFS & adrenal dysfunction. My cortisol is high even tough I really haven’t lived a stressful life for quite awhile now. I took 4 ATP Fuel pills a day & they had no effect on me what-so-ever. Now my FM dr. has me taking Miller MIL ADREGEN pills. Haven’t noticed any difference but it’s only been a week. Any other tests you recommend prior to starting your Thyroid Connection protocol? My FM dr. did want not me to just start taking all this stuff for leaky gut, yeast, parasites, SIBO, infections, autoimmune all at once. He’s afraid I would become very sick. That’s why he ordered those tests. Just mailed SIBO test today & doing other over the weekend. Should anything else be added to those 2 tests since I can ask my dr. to call them & add them before they start running the tests on them. Thank You!!!!!

Also, by Q’s in book I’m positive for all the issues in Thyroid Connection, that’s why my FM dr. wants me to verify I have issues before taking supplements for all the things at once. So if I do have all these issues, should I treat all at once or is there a preferred order to treat them?

    Hi there,
These tests will tell you about the gut microbiome so yeast should also looked for in these tests. Other infections such as viral infections will not be looked at. Also, leaky gut is a different test BUT if you have autoimmunity as a diagnosis or any inflammatory symptoms, we can assume that you have leaky gut without a test.

Regarding other testing, I would recommend general blood labs that look at vitamin D, B12, and Iron panel as well.

I also, like your FM physician, would recommend testing before treating. The questions in the book are meant to guide the reader into their next steps of treatment which I highly recommend testing to confirm before just starting supplements blindly. You would focus on treating the gut first and foremost!
