However, keto can increase cortisol levels, straining the adrenals and worsening hypothyroidism symptoms, especially if adrenal fatigue is present. Managing stress and supporting adrenal function with essential nutrients like iodine, selenium, zinc, and iron is crucial before considering keto. While the diet might work for some, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. Consulting a doctor, addressing stress, and monitoring thyroid levels are essential steps to determine if keto is the right choice for managing hypothyroidism.
