Heartburn is often caused by stomach acid that is TOO LOW… NOT too high.
Many people are shocked when they hear this, but it’s absolutely true. Low stomach acid leads to a whole host of digestive issues that cause inflammation, swelling, and fluid retention in the stomach and digestive tract. H. Pylori infection and SIBO are highly opportunistic and thrive in low acid environments. These and other infections that crop up when stomach acid is too low aggravate all of this inflammation. Inflamed tissues swelling even just a little cause a build up of intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) over the long term. This pressure build up impacts tissues such as your hiatal sphincter as well as your esophagus, which leads to stomach acid being able to navigate into the esophagus causing pain and discomfort.
My HCL supplement contains Betaine Hydrochloride which supports optimal gastric acidity. Betaine, an amino acid, is a derivative of choline, a vital micronutrient. I combined betaine with hydrochloride in order to create the perfect PH optimizer for your stomach. My HCL formula adds just the right amount of acid to the stomach’s gastric juices in order to support optimal digestion, mineral absorption, enzyme activation, and microbe balance.
Minerals like iron, calcium, and magnesium need optimal stomach acid to be absorbed! That’s right, in the foods we eat and the supplements we take, iron, calcium, magnesium, and other minerals are bound to other molecules, such as organic acids, or amino acids. The bonds between the atomic mineral itself, and the acid it’s bound to need to be broken down, or ‘cleaved’ by our gastric juices. Without the correct PH and right amount of stomach acid, those bonds cannot be broken down and mineral absorption plummets, leading to essential mineral insufficiencies.
HCL supports healthy gastrointestinal microbe balance and immunity. Stomach acid is your intestines’ first line of defense against invaders! When stomach acid is too low, ingested viruses, molds, undesirable bacteria, and even parasites can survive passage into the small intestine, large intestine, and colon. There, these opportunistic microorganisms are free to cause all manner of health problems from dysbiosis and SIBO, to candida and parasitic infection. Supplementing with HCL helps fortify your gastric juices with the acid it needs in order to reach the proper PH to be able to provide an inhospitable environment to these would be commensal invaders.
Do you have food sensitivities? I’d venture to guess that if you’re reading this, you’re dealing with one or more food sensitivities now, or have dealt with them in the past. Often times, food sensitivities are the result of leaky gut, which can actually be proliferated by a lack of stomach acid! When stomach acid is low, bacteria, yeast, parasites and even undigested proteins can damage the intestinal barrier. This leads to increased intestinal permeability which can lead to food sensitivities, and ultimately, autoimmunity. HCL promotes the proper PH in the stomach and small intestine to support proper digestion of potentially inflammatory proteins as well as creates an inhospitable environment for would be opportunistic microorganisms.
My HCL supplement is the perfect digestive aid for anyone who:
Suggested Use: Take with each meal to increase stomach acid and help digest proteins.
Contents: 100 Capsules
Does not contain: Dairy, wheat, yeast, gluten, corn, soy, sugar, starch, soy, preservatives or hydrogenated oils.
Caution: Do not take if you have stomach or duodenal ulcers or are taking drugs that may cause ulcers. Do not take on an empty stomach.
What time of day should I take HCL? Should it be taken with or away from meals?
I always recommend HCL supplements be taken immediately before a meal. This allows the betaine hydrochloride to modulate the stomach’s PH in anticipation of digesting the meal. This also enables HCL to activate digestive enzymes, and support vitamin and mineral absorption.
Is HCL appropriate for children?
Because HCL is a powerful PH modulating supplement, I recommend working with your child’s healthcare provider before supplementing with my HCL formula. They can help you decide if it is appropriate for your child’s specific health goals, as well as help you with dosing information.
Is HCL safe to take for pregnant women and nursing mothers?
In the case of pregnancy and nursing, a HCL supplement is generally safe when used as directed unless you have been given advice by your doctor not to use HCL, or are on any medications that may be contraindicated with HCL. I encourage you to work with your healthcare provider or pharmacist if you have any concerns about supplementation before using my HCL supplement.
