Frequently Asked Questions

What is Salted Caramel Paleo Protein made of?

Paleo Protein is made from hydrolyzed bovine collagen that comes from happy, pasture-raised cows that graze on fresh green fields in the sunshine. These animals are raised with love and care and are never given unnecessary drugs such as antibiotics, arsenic-based growth promoters, or hormones. They are grass-fed and never fed GMOs, such as genetically modified corn and soy meal.

What time of day should I take Salted Caramel Paleo Protein?

Paleo Protein is perfect any time of the day. While Dr. Myers likes it in her morning smoothies, you can enjoy it at all times of the day. Whether you’re mixing it into your morning coffee or into shakes for dessert for a flavorful protein boost, you’ll find that it’s great around the clock.

Is Salted Caramel Paleo Protein safe for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children?

While many moms and dads tell me they give Paleo Protein to their kids, I always recommend speaking with your child’s pediatrician or nutritionist if you have concerns about any of the ingredients or adjusting the dosing for them. And, as always, I recommend reaching out to your physician, midwife, or other qualified healthcare practitioner if you have any concerns before using it while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Is Salted Caramel Paleo Protein damaged by heat?

All proteins are damaged by high heat to some extent. Proteins are long chains of amino acids bound together. High heat can potentially fold and warp the amino acid chains into new shapes and structures called amines that may be unusable by the body, or even harmful. This is why you should avoid charring or overcooking meat. The proteins and peptides in my Paleo Protein are quite stable at moderately high temps, so adding it to a hot cup of tea or coffee, or baking it at low temps (below 300F) will not denature it too much.

Can I take Salted Caramel Paleo Protein if I’m allergic to tree nuts?

Paleo Protein contains MCT oil derived from coconuts. Scientifically speaking, coconuts are not tree nuts—they are in fact fruits classified as a “drupe.” Other drupes include palm fruit, peaches, berries, plums, and apricots. However, because the FDA has lumped coconuts in a group with other tree nuts for labeling purposes, we are required to list them as a potential allergen. In fact, true coconut allergy is actually extremely rare with only a few cases reported in the medical literature. If you have a diagnosed tree nut allergy, please speak with your healthcare provider before consuming any products containing coconut.

    Flavor is off-putting and artificial

As the title states, I found the flavor off-putting and artificial tasting. I always had to blend it with various spices - ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, chai spice, cardamom, a dash of Maldon salt, and any combination thereof, to mask the unpleasant flavor it had. However, I like that it didn't make me bloat nor does it hurt my stomach. I mix it into hot buckwheat cereal with water and coconut milk.

Not only did the package change so did the servings in each bag

I use to love Amy Meyers Protein powders until they changed the amount of servings in each bag. It went from 30 servings which was ideal for us, to only 20 servings. I get the price went down as well, I’m assuming because it is less servings. one of the big selling points for me was to have a 30 day supply and now her products are like most other protein powders containing less then a months supply assuming you’re only consuming it once a day. Such a bummer, looks like I’ll have to find another brand that offers the 30 servings.
