Reindeer Munch

Enjoy a healthy holiday treat with Reindeer Munch, a gluten-free, AIP-friendly twist on puppy chow. Made with peppermint mocha protein powder, cocoa nibs, and a natural powdered sugar substitute, it is festive, delicious, and nourishing.

The holidays are a time for celebration. Traditional treats often contain gluten, dairy, and refined sugar. These can trigger inflammation and digestive discomfort. Reindeer Munch is a festive play on traditional puppy chow. You can think of this snack as a peppermint puppy chow that is gluten-free, dairy-free, and AIP-compliant. It allows you to enjoy a sweet treat while supporting your health.

This recipe gets an added nourishing boost with Peppermint Mocha Paleo Protein Powder, providing protein and a refreshing holiday flavor. Cocoa nibs, dried pomegranates, and coconut flakes add nutrients, texture, color and natural sweetness.

Gluten Free Puppy Chow

Reindeer Munch starts with gluten-free cereal. I recommend Lovebird or Seven Sundays cereal because they are minimally processed and AIP-friendly. The cereal is coated in a rich chocolate mixture made from dark chocolate chips, tigernut butter, coconut oil, peppermint mocha protein powder, and a pinch of sea salt. This combination creates a decadent, healthy snack without refined sugar.

Peppermint Mocha Protein Powder

Peppermint Mocha Paleo Protein Powder adds flavor and nutrition. Each scoop provides protein that supports muscle health and stable blood sugar. It blends well with chocolate and coconut-based ingredients. The peppermint flavor makes this snack feel special for the holidays.

Each scoop contains 21 grams of hydrolyzed collagen from grass fed beef. Collagen can support skin, hair, nails and connective tissue when used as part of a nutrient focused routine. A clean protein powder can also support stable energy during a busy holiday season.

Healthy Substitute for Powdered Sugar

Traditional puppy chow uses powdered sugar, which can spike blood sugar. This recipe replaces it with a healthy substitute for powdered sugar. Simply process coconut sugar until it is fine and fluffy, then add arrowroot flour. Toss the chocolate-coated cereal in this mixture for sweetness that is gentle on your body. Adjust the amount to taste.

Cocoa Nibs, Pomegranates, and Coconut Flakes

After coating the cereal, mix in cocoa nibs, dried pomegranates, and coconut flakes. Cocoa nibs provide antioxidants and a rich chocolate flavor. Dried pomegranates add vitamin C and natural sweetness. Coconut flakes add texture and healthy fats. Together, these ingredients turn a simple snack into a festive, nutrient-dense treat.

How to Make Reindeer Munch

Making Reindeer Munch is simple and takes about 20 minutes. Begin by melting the chocolate chips, tigernut butter, coconut oil, peppermint mocha protein powder, and sea salt in a heat-proof bowl over medium heat until the mixture is smooth and fully combined. Place the cereal in a large bowl, then pour the chocolate mixture over it, stirring until every piece is evenly coated.

Next, prepare the powdered sugar substitute by processing the coconut sugar in a food processor until fine and fluffy. Add the arrowroot flour and pulse just to combine. Toss the chocolate-coated cereal in the powdered sugar mixture, adjusting the amount to reach your preferred level of sweetness.

Finally, mix in the cocoa nibs, dried pomegranates, and coconut flakes. Store Reindeer Munch in an airtight container for up to two weeks, making it a convenient and festive snack throughout the holiday season.
