Turmeric and ginger iced tea served over ice with fresh lemon and edible flowers for a refreshing gut-support beverage

This turmeric ginger iced tea combines fresh rhizomes with Leaky Gut Revive® for gut support. A refreshing gluten-free functional beverage for summer.

Summertime calls for a cool, refreshing drink. However, summer brings overindulgence and a lack of routine. That’s where functional foods and beverages come into play! This turmeric and ginger iced tea delivers more than just quenching your thirst. It helps nourish and soothe your gut lining.

Functional beverages have been having a moment for quite some time now. This recipe is one of the best examples of how a simple drink can work double duty. The secret ingredient that takes this tea to the next level is AMMD™’s Leaky Gut Revive®. I will explain more about that below.

Whether you are managing a health condition, supporting your immune system, or simply looking for a clean summer staple, this recipe belongs in your routine.

What Are Functional Beverages?

Functional beverages are drinks formulated to do more than hydrate. They are infused with vitamins, minerals, herbs, adaptogens, or other nutrients that support specific health goals.

You have likely seen them on store shelves. Kombucha, adaptogenic mushroom drinks, collagen water, and mocktails are all examples. The category is growing fast because people want drinks that serve a purpose.

This turmeric and ginger iced tea fits squarely in that category. It combines two powerful rhizomes with a physician-formulated gut-support supplement. The result is a drink that is as intentional as it is delicious.

What Are Rhizomes? The Power of Turmeric and Ginger

You might be wondering: what are rhizomes? A rhizome is an underground stem that grows horizontally and sends out roots and shoots. Turmeric and ginger are both rhizomes. They look and feel similar, and grow in similar climates.

Fresh turmeric root has a deep golden-orange color and has a warm, slightly bitter, earthy flavor. It contains curcumin, its primary active compound. Curcumin has been studied extensively. Research suggests it may support a healthy inflammatory response.

Fresh ginger root is pale yellow inside with a fibrous texture. Its active compound is gingerol. Ginger has been used for centuries to support digestive comfort and overall wellness. It has a sharp, spicy, and warming flavor that beautifully balances turmeric.

Together, turmeric and ginger create a synergistic pairing. Both roots are AIP-compliant, making this recipe ideal if you are following The Myers Way® or an Autoimmune Protocol diet. Using fresh roots rather than powders gives you the most vibrant flavor and the most intact plant compounds.

In addition, this recipe includes a pinch of black pepper. Black pepper contains piperine, which research suggests may significantly enhance curcumin absorption. If you are strictly AIP, you can omit the black pepper. The tea is still delicious and beneficial without it.

Adding Leaky Gut Revive® to Your Tea

This is where the recipe gets truly functional. Leaky Gut Revive® is a supplement I personally formulated to support a healthy gut lining. The gut lining is a single layer of cells that acts as a selective barrier. When it is not functioning optimally, it can affect how you feel overall.

Leaky Gut Revive® contains a blend of gut-supporting ingredients, including L-glutamine, arabinogalactan, licorice root, aloe vera, larch arabinogalactan, and marshmallow root. These ingredients work together to nourish and support the intestinal lining. The formula is unflavored and mixes cleanly into liquids.

One important note when adding Leaky Gut Revive® to your tea: do not whisk it into hot liquid. Heat can degrade certain sensitive compounds. Wait until the tea is lukewarm before stirring in one scoop. This preserves the integrity of the supplement.
